It was not. The official term was Direct Input Officer. But it’s an easy leap to “insert” the necessary words for “DILDO”.

As a Seabee electrician, I applied for that program to try to avoid going back to a battalion. Sadly, they weren’t taking applications at that time. The downside of duty with Nuke is that you are then in a limited NEC, which makes advancement more difficult. So it worked out for the best, as I made Chief a couple of years later.

The lounge in Chief’s Quarters. I’d be surprised if they ate all their meals there, but it’s really up to the local culture of the boat.
