# Questions you thought you could answer, but you really can't

The [Tell me about your experiences going to/working with an allergist](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/tell-me-about-your-experiences-going-to-working-with-an-allergist/921156) got me thinking:

I go to an allergist all of the time! Maybe I can answer some questions and be helpful!

Nope. I don’t actually have any allergies. I see an allergist because I have something that you could call “allergy adjacent”. My experiences really don’t apply at all.

The same thing happens often with threads involving the military. Yes, I was in the military for 23 years, but that time was spent in he US Air Force as either avionics/aircraft maintenance or supervising avionics/aircraft maintenance.
