Quick philosophy or rhetoric question

Same here. But even if you are assigned a side before the debate, you need to prepare by developing an argument for the other side so you can both understand it and be able to refute it.

I even personally switched sides on one topic after preparing the argument for the side I hadn’t supported.

But I’m not aware of someone actually arguing both sides in a debate or other format.

Man, I should know this. It clearly says “Rhetoric” on my diploma. Then again, that diploma is over 40 years old, so I’ve forgotten a lot!
