Definitely the train. I used to take it from Trenton to DC fairly frequently, and it was comfortable and relaxing. Plus you can take any liquids you want on board. Reagan isn’t bad as airports go, but Union Station in DC is far nicer.
Well, I bought my Amtrak tickets, so I’m set.
Now if only I could find a hotel in NY for under $200…
The Americana on 38th and 6th is less than $100 a night and is quite nice, really. It has 1 bathroom shared between 3 rooms but I’ve stayed there at least 3 times (and ended up sneaking in a couple of times to shower when the gas main outside my apartment building exploded in January, leaving us with no hot water) and never saw a single bathroom occupied by anyone other than myself.
There is also the New Yorker (34th and something, I don’t really remember) with bathrooms in the room like a normal hotel for about $140 or $150 a night. I highly recommend both of these hotels.
