Wouldn’t you know it, I’ve got family plans on the 27th. Not that I’m complaining since it includes a Cubs game, but nonetheless, I can’t make it that day.
OK, after consulting the calendar and discussing this with my sissy, the 27th is a go. ** Repeat, the 27th is a go. ** So, with that in mind, let’s spend the next day or two waiting for some more RSVP’s. When you RSVP, if you have a specialty dish or beverage, list and I’ll start a list of who is bringing what.
Since I’m the hostess, I’ll tell you that I have all the little stuff, plates, napkins, glasses, cheese and crackers, wine, vodka, soda, all the fixins for either apple or lemondrop martini’s - those are the two that will be available that evening. Although maybe if I’m feeling adventurous later, I may make a smoretini or two.
Boyo Jim has e-mailed me a list of his movie collection, which is quite extensive. My gut says the cheesier the better, so we’ll move forward with that.
I’m sure I’m forgetting something, but it’s early and I have a shitload of work to do, so as it comes to me later, I’ll post more.
Okay. porcupine has told me that I’ll be there and that I’m supposed to make spinach pie. So, I’ll be there and make spinach pie. I think she’s planning to make succotash, or something like that.
A player piano? Maybe I should go.
With this crowd ypu should have no problem getting the hang of it.
Don’t be coy!
No coyness, just neuroses. Can an evening with a player piano and competitive Trivial Pursuit trump my antisocial tendencies?
Put me down as tentative.
OK, so we have some chili crack (aka succotash) and some spinach pie. I’ll be preheating the oven UB just let me know time and temp.
Some cheezie movies, trivia, and hopefull some of Gundy’s guacamole.
I’ll probably throw something else together when I know what other food items are being brought. So, keep those RSVP’s and pot luck items coming folks.
How can I not make the guacamole now!
Maybe I’ll go nuts and make a tiramisu, if anyone’s interested.
As long as there’s none of that evil sangria, I’ll be there. I shall refrain from offering SPAM again; I’ll think of something else appropriate for snacking.
Altho the chances of my being there are somewhere between slim and none, just for shits and giggles, whereabouts is your domicile?
I confess total ineptitude in the kitchen. When we get a little further along with food contributions, perhaps you can direct me to buy some stuff to fill in the gaps.
Well, I’ve been informed that Rosh Hashanah also falls right around then, so who knows if I will ever see the light of day that weekend. Wish me luck…
Okay, I see how it is now. It’s gonna be me, Jane, and Judith with a bunch of booze and a big-ass bowl of guacamole.
Yay!
<whine of jealousy>
I just found out there is a family gathering (niece’s Bday party) that day.
So that means we’re passing on the family gathering, since we already committed to this.
Don’t forget Boyo Jim
And porcupine you serve as a role model to all of us. Just know that the chili crack is gonna taste that much better because of the sacrifice you’ve made!!
Yay porcupine!
And yay Boyo Jim! And Miss Creant!
And boo Zanshin! Dude, your priorities are waaaay messed up. I guess you’ll just have to host the next one in your swanky new digs.
I didn’t know you could legally use crack in recipes.
Argghhh. Sounds great, but work demands and an especially complicated social life at the moment make it unlikely that I’ll be there.
Probably for the best. There’s never enough food at these things.
(Amish Acres? Sorry, not seeing it.)
