And I’m not saying that I love Meatloaf. It is just and example of a song that they have rotated into play. For some reason they have rotated into play “Sweet Home Alabama” and I have a really hard time picturing hip Londoners walking over some bridge on the Thames and saying ‘Turn it up’ at the appropriate moment.

But I’m sorry, that song is best enjoyed when dead. It sounds like someone is torturing Enya. I’m sure that only dogs and some species of dolphin can hear all of the lyrics.
Yes, if forced I would listen to Debbie Boon sing You Light up my Life rather than this ‘song’.

I tried to listen to that song via Amazon, but my computer wouldn’t let me. I swear, this thing is protecting me.

The funniest part is the name of the file it refused: hurl.exe

Isn’t there a big British pop song right now that samples **Axel F** and has a guy making high pitched mo-ped sounds with his mouth?

I heard part of it on NPR recently. I can’t imagine something worse than that.

Just for you, I have put this song on repeat on my computer, and am now blasting it out to the entire neighbourhood. Suck it up, sucker!

“Ohh it gets dark, it gets lonely…”

You mean “Crazy Frog Axel F”?

It’s worse than you think.

It’s a _ring tone_. And it was recently the most popular song in Britain.

This is completely inaccurate. The high pitched noises are made by a **frog** (riding a motorbike).

I blame teenagers and their mobile phone ringtone mania.

So does Kate Bush have any songs that are less like an ice-pick to the eyeball? Is this her big hit? Who the hell makes pop songs out of gothic romances. Is there a semifore version of this song?

Well, personally, I like Kate Bush. But she’s very much an acquired taste; really not for everyone. If I’d heard her for the first time as an adult, rather than as a high school student, I might not like her as much today. But…check out “Running Up That Hill” or “Hounds of Love”.

> Remember that version of The Island of Dr. Moreau with Brando and the original, sad mini-me. Imagine that version of the good Doktor interbred Sarah Brightman with a Siamese cat that was perpetually in heat. (and if you must, that she has four asses) Now, take the ultimate Grizabella from hell and strap her to a bed of nails with her head hanging off the bed. Now place the bed on a trebuchet and launch it with great force. Just as the bed of nails reached the apex of it’s arc, it slams into a cliff face of slate. Now imagine the tortured screams of the beast as the nails slide down a mile of cliff face and you will get some idea of what this song is like.

Oh, this was so wonderful! 😃

But…I love that song. ☹

I had the same kind of disdain for Kate until I really listened to her. You can’t really get a feel for what she’s about until you give her a chance. Once you get past the odd singing style and listen to what’s going on in the music and lyrics, then you could start to appreciate her.

However, there’s a reason why she completely redid the vocal on “Wuthering Heights” for her greatest hits album - on the original, she was practically screeching. In the intervening years, she learned how to sing much better, and the version on “The Whole Story” is a LOT better.

Kate is definitely an acquired taste, but it’s worth the effort. I mean, no wonder David Gilmour got her a record deal when she was still quite young. He could see it. Try listening to “Babooshka” and “The Man With The Child In His Eyes” and “James And The Cold Gun” for starters, and see if you hate her any less. And there’s her later material, like “Running Up That Hill”, “Cloudbusting”, “Experiment IV” etc. By this time, she had mastered her art.

Not to mention she might have been the world’s most beautiful young woman for a number of years. Watching her sing helps tremendously.

Meatloaf is fun music for driving too fast & reliving your high-school years.

Kate Bush is what happens when Sarah Brightman takes a hit off the helium bong.

The UK has produced far too much musical genius over the decades to decry them the occasional stumble, no matter how painful.

Germany, on the other hand, needs a major bitchslapping right about now.

How else can you explain making [David Fucking Hasselhoff](http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2433520?htv=12) a popular musician? And whisky-tango-foxtrot is with the chanting?!?

Okay, I came home and tried hurl.exe on my own computer.

It was aptly named. My cats are giving me a horrified look, as if I shoud count myself lucky that they haven’t clawed me to death yet for playing that shrill yodeling. I apologize to yodeling for comparing it to hurl.exe (which should really be the name of that song).

I have to listen to Rammstein loudly to burn the remnants of that shrieking from my brain.

Definitely good choices there, **Lindy** I would also recommend “Love and Anger” from _The Sensual World_.

Yes, Sensual World is the name of the Album. I envy you that you will now be able to get hold of some Kate Bush material you haven’t yet heard, many fans have heard everything and are losing hope that Kate will ever produce any new music.
