Was a little worried on this one. Not many clues from my first three guesses, and then got DRAIN wrong so I could only afford one more wrong guess. I figured the last word was probably JELLY or BELLY, but possibly KELLY, so I used a sleuth word.

Thanks for the tips! The instructions say the letters aren’t repeated in the two words, but didn’t know it’s never a double-letter word. And I knew the words were related too, which definitely _can_ be helpful…I wouldn’t have been quick to connect Pixel and Stack though if I had seen both of them. For yesterday’s game, since I knew the S was green in one of the two words, I just focused on trying to nail the S word.
I do want to give it another go again, but I unblurred Chili’s comment by accident, and so I know one of the words in today’s game is plural. I’m not a fan of plural words being possible answers…that opens up the playing field immensely. Still though, I’ll play this one now and again for something different. 🙂
Have any of you ever tried Absurdle? That one can be a doozy of a challenge. 😆

@chiliwillybing We played the same game (minus our start words). 😆 I actually think Nadir is worse than Filmy…that word never enters my vocab, nor do I hear or read it out in the wild ever, whereas I say Filmy all the time. That said, Filmy isn’t necessarily a word I think of quickly when playing the word games.

I agree, it’s very uncommon. I also don’t care for and never use quite a few of the add a Y adjectives. While a lot of them are great and very descriptive, like shady, milky, cloudy, juicy etc. others just seem dumb for some reason, funny how that is 😆

Impressive! 😃 I didn’t go with my usual Choir second, and I ended up getting a 4, but that is my best score thus far. I like the challenge of having the two words to sort through, and the previous game I was able to solve based on seeing a connection between two words, albeit in 5 guesses, but I felt good about it.
ETA - I’m not sure if you are talking about the Tuesday 2/20 game or 2/21? I played the 2/20 game (#783) with HERBS and FUNGI, and that’s what I’m referring to above with getting it in 4 guesses (I solved Herbs).

I’ve tried qwordle a few times now, but I’m not sure if I’ll stick with it. The problem I have is that it seems like it’s possible for guesses to be too good. If I match just a couple letters, and they’re in the same word, that’s helpful. If I make an ostensibly better guess and match more letters, they’re more likely to be in both answer words, and I find that less helpful.
It’s similar to why I don’t play worldle on difficult mode. Suppose after your first guess, you know the answer is \_OUGH. Four letters correct should be a great guess, but you’ve put yourself in a position where you have to use those letters in subsequent guesses, and you’re forced to try R, T, C, B, and D one at a time.
My 3 was on the 2/21 qwordle game.

I can understand the frustration, but I think it arises from habits we’ve picked up from the other Wordle-likes, where “more letters matched” is really the only metric for a good guess. With Qwordle, “more letters matched” is good, but so is “fewer letters, but known to be in same/different word”. The optimal solution path involves some of both, while relying solely on “more letters” is a trap.
It leads to different strategies, like taking two letters from a batch of mixed matches and trying them together in a guess with deliberately rare letter combinations. If you can get two isolated letter matches in a guess, it will tell you for certain whether those letters are in the same word or different words–either of which can help more than, say, identifying one more letter out of 10 in the set.
(And the fact that the two words are related, however obscurely, should help a bit with your scenario of knowing most of the letters, but having to randomly guess among a large set of possible completions.)
