I’m kinda glad when things like that happen. I don’t think that having access to meta-information should play a part in solving any given puzzle. Suppose they did have some sort of moratorium that they wouldn’t use the same word in two puzzles within a week of each other. That would give some players an advantage over others. I prefer that each puzzle stand on its own.
Plus, didn’t we have EDICT and EVICT within the same puzzle recently? As soon as you got one, the other was a gimme. That makes think that the correct words in each puzzle are chosen at random; nobody would deliberately put two words in the same puzzle that differed by only one letter. If the words are chosen at random, there will always be the chance that the same word will show up only a day or two apart.

I think because it’s computer generated randomness, that while it gives the appearance of being random, it’s never _truly_ random.
The same word will quite often show up multiple times in a month and then not be seen again for many months. It might be more apparent to SS and I because we play both puzzles.
I try to use the repetition to my advantage, when I can remember to, but it does get annoying.

I think the reverse is more likely; that it is truly random, but the human instinct to look for patterns makes us think it’s not. No one notices the hundreds of words that show up once in a while, just as random chance would predict. But if there’s one word repeated in a few days, we suddenly think “aha, they’re trying to trick us!”

I have suspected they just put a small handful of letters in a random word generator and toss 'em up between the two games. That’s why Edict and Evict both came up, so they split them between the games. It’s also why we sometimes have all S words, or 2-3 words with the same letters in them.
Not sure how the repeated words come into play with that scenario, but in any case, like Chili said, it _can_ work to our advantage, though sometimes they do go with the other word instead of the repeated one (i.e. instead of Tuber again, it’d be Tuner, which is what I was gambling on). It’s just another part of what makes the game challenging though…I wouldn’t want it to be _too_ predictable, but I do get annoyed sometimes 😆.

I didn’t have a lot to go on after the first two guesses. I wasn’t certain about PENCE, but I figured even if it was wrong it was a good sleuth word between CLASS and CLASP.

I think it’s something of that nature as well. That perhaps the puzzles are generated from subsets of words that have some letters in common. I believe it would be a lot more difficult if the words were truly totally random.
Spoiler- Look at today’s quordle with E,N,C,S and P. Of course not all the puzzles are that closely related, but they all do seem to have more commonality than would be found in random selections.
