This one had me stumped for a while. OCTET was a guess, and then I couldn’t see anything for the other three words. I figured the second word was \_U\_A\_ (with an L); I thought GULAG was more likely than PUPAL. That eliminated GEEKY and WEEPY, so I couldn’t see anything other than BEEFY for the next word. And the B gave me the nudge I needed for ABYSS.
A tough puzzle for me. I’ll take an 8.

Should have gone with a sleuth word early on for this game, but just was kind of winging it instead. I knew putting Frizz in was taking a risk…I just wasn’t seeing any other words at that point. At least Rigid and Privy narrowed down that huge \_A\_ER trap, but I still had 2 choices…glad to squeak by with a 9 on this one.

Tough game tonight; two Zs, a V, and a triple-letter-double-letter.
I figured I was taking a chance with AZURE, but it was right and gave me the Z for BEZEL. A little unlucky with LEDGE, but only cost me one guess. I kept thinking the last word would have a P, something like \_\_AMP, but I couldn’t find anything that worked. I figured if MAMMA was wrong it would still give me info for one more guess.

I was a little worried after GIDDY; three guesses left and didn’t have much info for the last two words. I think DIZZY was the only possibility. I wasn’t sure about POPPY, but at worst it would give me info for the last guess.
I’m always a bit reluctant to make guesses with uncommon letters, but I hadn’t really thought about why. If they aren’t correct, those rare letters aren’t likely to give much new info.

With that sparse opening, DUMPY sure helped! But then I needed a 2nd sleuth word to sort out four D words - I was glad ZINGY would tell me which of the four words it was. 🙂
@Robot_Arm There also was Divvy, so you lucked out not seeing that one! I had Dingy and Dinky too, but you had those ruled out. Seems they’ve been giving the lower use letters some attention lately. I also don’t like guessing those letters either, unless there looks to be more than one word that could have the letter, or of course the only possibility.

I always thought divy was spelled with one ‘v’. Do you happen to remember if DIVVY has ever been an answer in quordle?
Does anyone know if quordle uses the same list of possible answers as wordle? I think there are sites that list previous wordle answers. It might be useful someday to check that list.

@Robot_Arm Divvy hasn’t been an answer yet, though I’m not 100% sure - I have only been able to find one website that has the previous Quordle answers, and they have skipped some months. They also only have the previous answers through April 2024, so it looks like they may not be updating it anymore.
Unless Quordle got the original Wordle answer list when it was floating around online (and has since been changed by NYT), they aren’t using it. Quordle is owned by Merriam-Webster, so anything that is in that online dictionary is game.
