Nice to get a quick-n-easy one today after yesterday’s fiasco. Not sure if you had a chance to play yesterday Chili, but it took me 8 tries (including my two start words) to get the first word. Needless to say, _that_ was a colossal fail. 😆
If you didn’t play, the first word was WAVER…I actually forgot about that word, but of all days to wing it (instead of using a sleuth), that was _not_ the day - lol. I would have gotten the other three straight away…the last word (WAGER) was completely solved too since I used a G earlier on. Too bad it doesn’t count when that happens.

I tend to refer to the words in a puzzle in the order I solve them. (I don’t play the sequence.) I get the impression that you refer to them in the order they’re present in the puzzle.

A difficult 7. After ROUSE and DOWNY, it took me several minutes to even find a possibility for the next word. ATOLL was the only thing I could think of that fit the clues I had. I wasn’t really expecting MAXIM to be correct, but by that time I had three guesses left so I could go fishing a bit to find where the A, I, and M went, and I go lucky it was correct.

Sorry if that was confusing. I usually will say “guess 3” or “3rd guess” if I’m talking about my guess order, and if I say “#1 word”, it is the order they present in the puzzle.

A bit lucky, there. LEVER could have also been NEVER. You could have played NEVER as your third guess, since you already used S in the first position.
Although, looking at the sequence again, I suppose you guessed SEVER for the word that turned out to be SERUM. And it was just a coincidence that there was another \_EVER word in the puzzle.

This game was _not_ fun…not just due to failing, but it just was a huge slog. There were 12 choices for the #2 word, and nothing to go on for several words, which seems to be happening a lot lately. I play for enjoyment, not to struggle. 😒 Plus I made a dumb mistake with playing Bloat (L wasn’t valid in that spot) , so that didn’t help matters.

Tough puzzle tonight. I figured out HYENA. Then, for my third blind guess I dropped the Y and played LIMBS rather than SLIMY. That gave me the B I needed for ALIBI. Got a little unlucky that I burned a guess on NEVER.
The last word was tough. All I had were N and O. It took a few minutes, and KNOWN was the first word I found that could fit.

My usual CHOIR sure helped today with every word having the ‘I’ in the 4th spot. 😆 Sheik was all the #4 word could be, but I had three choices for both the #2 and #3 words, and two choices for the #1 word.
