I had 13 words to sort through and went straight for a sleuth at 2, but that didn’t eliminate enough, though it helped.

SHUNT was a gimme, so instead of SLIMY I used MILKY next. I’m not fond of HUMPH as a word. APPLY seems like it might cause problems; I tend to expect vowels in the middle of words.

Not a lot to go on for two of the words, and for some reason I didn’t think of T words for the #1 word…I was seeing After and Water, and I went for AFTER to check Huffy for #3 word (all I had was an H and U). That at least placed the A for APPLY. And then I saw Humph, which then told me #1 was TAMER, so it all worked out better than I originally thought.
