But then sometimes when you do go with your gut, you end up being very much wrong as well. Like on today’s sequence I had a strong feeling it was swank which it was not and was a pretty stupid guess overall.

I’ve been finding quordle decidedly less fun compared to sequence lately, so I’m once again switching up my rules. This time I’m applying hard mode sequence rules where I can only guess in order, as if I were playing sequence. New strategy off to an auspicious start.

I think my least favorite mini traps are flier / flyer and drier / dryer. It feels like I always guess wrong and it always feels like bullshit.
Interesting, good job!

I had Bagel, Gavel, and Label…any of the three words would tell me what it was if wrong, and since Bagel just showed up a week ago, I decided to go for the double-letter word. Nope, but at least I pulled off a 7 today.
@EllisDee Nice 3456! Will be interesting to see how your new strategy pays off.

Axion? You mean like the connector part of neurons? Nope, turns out those are axons. Axions appear to be hypothetical subatomic particles that I’ve never heard of before. As a common use answer word, seems legit.
The only other combination of letters that didn’t come up red was avion, but that’s either a brand name for tequila or the Spanish word for airplane. I was forced to choose the actual English word axion.
Then to add insult injury, quordle turns the screws with dread, virtually guaranteeing I would waste a guess on bread.

My second word came up completely blank. I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen before.
I’m still trying to get a string of 100 wins in a row. I was at about 50, but failed yesterday; I tried ANION with my last guess, instead of AXION. Oh, well.
Starting over at 1.

Stupid game. Axion? I had no chance between the previous tricky words and then that BS word. I don’t know how you guys got it, but you’re obviously smarter than me (never heard of it…because I’m not a physicist). Words like that should not be in this game.
Please put spoiler blur on your words. Some people are still playing the game (different time zones). I didn’t see your post, thankfully…though it would have saved me from failing if I did, but still don’t want to get spoiled. Thanks!

For me I was literally typing in letters to find combinations that didn’t come up red. Fortunately I never even tried anion; my blind spot for double letters finally pays off! (In my defense, the little on-screen keyboard letter is a different color when it’s a double.)
I ended up finding avion and axion, neither of which I was familiar with. So I googled both to see which one seemed more likely. Avion is either a brand name or a Spanish / French word. I don’t think brand names or foreign language words qualify, so I was left with axion, the obscure subatomic particle I’d never heard of. But at least it’s in English!
Fortunately my first three guesses greatly limited the possibilities to narrow it down to those two horrible choices. (Three, I guess, counting anion.) N was green in position 5, and A was yellow in positions 2, 3 and 4, meaning A was 100% at 1 and nowhere else. So A___N, with PLTSERHUM eliminated, and no chance for double A. The only real options I could see involved the last three letters being either OON or ION, but everything I tried turned up red with OON.
It also didn’t hurt that I use X as a placeholder since you can’t type in blanks, so I was literally staring at AXION and AXOON for a fair few minutes. That probably helped axion grow on me.
Fundamentally, though, axion as an answer is 100% a crock of shit. And now google voice is mocking me by properly transcribing axion, like I’m some kind of idiot for not knowing that word. An unwashed rube.
