Just like yesterday, this one went way better than I expected. I was seeing a lot of words for two of them. Thankfully Blown helped rule out a bunch, and Quordle helped out with giving us two GL words.
For the last word to solve, I was faced with just an O in yellow - not sure if that has ever happened before. Lobby was the first word I saw, so I went for it. I then saw Golly thinking that had to be it, but forgot about that sneaky J.
@chiliwillybing BIGLY is hilarious…good thinking though, and glad it was allowed!
RAISE
UPBOW
GRAPE
DRAPE - 4
DOWEL - 5
MOODY
TODDY - 7
MERRY - 8
Upbow helped me sort out the first word, except I forgot about Drape, and it gave me the W for dowel
Nice. I played a few practice games with your starters to see what it’s like using 3. Seems like on most words you get 3 to 5 letters, which helps narrow things down a lot right off the bat. Also the trap words I ran into were mostly already solved by elimination, except _unch, munch was out, but I still had lunch, bunch and hunch. I had one other error -slain/snail in that same puzzle which gave me a 9. The rest I got 7s on. So yeah, that third starter really helps.
My three starting words are missing L, which is a pretty common letter. I didn’t put any real effort into choosing those words; just occurred to me when I was playing one day that they would give me all five vowels, Y in the last position, and 9 popular consonants. If I really need more info, I can use BALKS or WALKS as my fourth word.
After my first three words, I can only afford two more wrong guesses. And I may never score a 6.
I wonder if anyone has done research on what the most effective strategy is for quordle. You could analyze the word list and find the popularity of each letter in each position. Or if you had access to all the games played you could see which opening guess(es) had the best chance of winning, or gave the lowest average score.
STONE
CHAIR HIPPO (3) CLAMP (4) SUITE (5)
ANTSY ANGST (7)
Quick-n-easy one today, except I wasn’t lucky enough to nail it in 6 guesses - I had four words for that #1 word, but three of them would tell me what it was, so I went with one of those.
RAISE
COUNT
PULSE - 3
FANCY - 4
AWAIT
ADMIT - 6
SLIME - 7
I actually guessed right between smile and slime, it really surprised me when it turned over green. I was so sure it would be wrong, as per usual.
I wonder which one @SuperSeaSun is going to pick?
LOL, I was actually faced with Slide or Slime, but after solving Admit, I had my answer. I had 4 words for that one, and I chose Audit to check the D and the U for the other words.
And…SuperSeaSun is back in action! I went for a sleuth word (Bumpy) which ruled out several words for #2, but that still left two choices. Three out of four two-choice words wrong…I’m now working on a record to get all four wrong (if all have just two choices) - just wait, I’ll get there.
