What the OP means is taking a quote from a poster, then breaking that quote into multiple quote boxes, with a reply to each. Almost no one does that here, and it \*is \*annoying. It’s very hard to read or respond to. ---

The thread was not made with the intent to change anything globally or enact a rule; I’d have posted in ATMB if that was my intent. The intent was to rant about something that annoys me, and get feedback on how the practice is viewed in a forum with which I’m not yet familiar. Additionally, I stated in the original post that ignoring someone over style is childish and I’d prefer to avoid doing that. If you’d read the thread (or you know, just the first post), you would know that. ---

Responding line-by-line pointlessly _is_ anal-retentive, but when I use the feature it’s usually just to get 2, rarely 3, excerpts from the quoted post. And since automatic nested quotes are disabled here, the snipped (sniped?) rigmarole disappears when one responds to the sniping (snipping?) post. ---
