A few weeks ago, I was out at one of those wholesale outlets places. And as I am ready to check out, I see in front of me a Hells Angel. Full “colors”, the whole regalia right out of Altamont. Except he didn’t smell bad. Neatly trimmed beard. His regalia looked like it just got out of the dry cleaners. Clean fingernails. Fred from Accounts Receivable. Now, of course, this is Baja Canada*, but still…
Then I hear about these outlaw bikers gathering at a Hooters copycat bar. A family restaurant, sorta kinda. More like a fern bar than a “biker bar”. And I gotta wonder, WTF? A lot of them had guns? What, in Texas? No shit, what a shocker!
Anyway, under circumstances of very limited information, right now I’m betting that almost all the guys who showed up were not really expecting some sort of rumble. Just getting together to strut, posture and show off their toys. Solid bet some of the cops personally knew some of the participants…
“Hey, John Wesley, what the fuck?”
“Damned if I know, Jim Bob! Was just standing here talking about home brew recipes with this good ol’ boy from the Bandidos, and all of a sudden all Hell broke loose!”
And Waco? “Athens on the Brazos”? Odessa, sure, Fort Worth, uh huh, but Waco? None of this shit makes any sense at all!
That’s an easy one. Race is a social construct, not an anthropological one. You are the race you are seen as. If the cops had never seen Obama and pulled him over at 2:00 am, you can bet he’d be treated like a black person, ergo, he’s black.
Setting fire to and robbing the stores which are necessary for your community to survive because some shithead robbed a convenience store and then got shot when he tried to rob a cop is throwing a tantrum.
Freddie Gray had been convicted for manufacturing narcotics with the intent to distribute. Tobacco is not a narcotic.
