Radio still exists and I still listen to it. I was reminiscing about the commercials Bud Light did back in the 80’s. They invented a fictional competitor called “Bimbleman’s Light,” and their CEO was a clueless bumpkin who wanted to outsell Bud Light. (Jeffrey Tambor might have been the voice) So, his ad man played a jingle for him:

_Bimbleman’s Light
for the taste that’s right
unless you’re out of Bud Light_

The CEO whined “You mentioned the competition in our jingle!”

There was another segment called “The Butch and Betty Show.” The hosts despised each other and would make snarky comments while doing their bits.

Butch: Good morning, Betty.
Betty: Good morning, Butch. How was your weekend?
Butch: Terrible, dull and boring.
Betty: You mean like your broadcasting.
Butch: No, I mean like your hairdo.
[Insincere laughter]

One segment had some kind of mind reader as a guest, who spoke like Sigmund Freud.

Butch: So doctor, read Betty’s mind.
Doctor: Ahh, Betty. You’re vondering if I can read your mind.
Betty: That’s amazing!
Butch: Read my mind, doctor.
Doctor: Ooooh, Butch. I’m not getting anything. Vot are you thinking about?
Betty: His love life.
[Insincere laughter]

Any other recollections of cool radio ads?

For quite a few years, Dorman’s Endico Cheese ran ads on NYC radio. The ad had the following exchange:

Man 1: A couple love the cheese so much that they served it at their wedding instead of a cake.
Man 2: Really?
Man 1: Yes. And when they cut it, everyone sang, “The bride cut the cheese. The bride cut the cheese.”

The ad ran for years without anyone realizing it was a fart joke.

If you lived in the NYC area you know:

“Oh HoHoHoHoHo RAAACEWAY PARK!”

They just closed recently ☹
