It’s a piece about how RATM folks are protesting about janitor’s wages. Granted, janitors have tough jobs and lousy hours, but they are janitors! If they want to get behind a cause, come up to Washington and support the fruit pickers that get paid $2.00/hr because the orchard growers know the pickers are illegals and won’t complain…
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I can’t get behind millionaires that complain about the third world. Hey, if you want to help, um, open up your darn checkbook! You have more money in your pockets for running around town than I will make in a month!

But I listened to this stuff before I graduated from high school, which was less than two years ago! I hate college radio! The only thing I used to listen to that’s anywhere near RATM is NIN, which I grew out of pretty fast, because more often than not, heavy smashing like that precludes the expression of… you know… musical talent. While Trent Reznor is a musical genius, you’d never know that to listen to his music. For the record, Tori Amos is often far gone from ‘soft’ music, but I guess you guys wouldn’t understand, because she’s a woman… who isn’t screaming… (see Caught a Lite Sneeze and Professional Widow, both singles). You guys might try listening to music with variation in mood or atmosphere once in a while. Maybe someday you’ll even come across some musical subtlety!
You might note that most people have their work cut out for them when they write songs. They have to write for lyrics, rhythm, AND harmony. Come on, how long can anyone really be so angry for? These guys just want a platform to stand on.
Sake Samurai: (wow… another brilliant alcoholic name) Did you know that metal drummers idolize Carter Beauford (of DMB), because he’s an amazing drummer? RATM should learn a thing or two about musical finesse, rather than whaling away like a shitty high school garage band. DM’s songs are original, variant, and sublime. Maybe if you still knew what music was, you would realize that.
Ani DiFranco: Just out of curiosity, what do you actually know about her or her music?
The Cure: Everyone hates them. Join a club, you fucking unoriginal bastard!
Tori Amos: Sorority girl? Please explain. This doesn’t make any sense.
Radiohead: If you actually listened to their music rather than looking at their success you’d realize that they aren’t a pop band at all. If you want to argue this, please come up with an example of some sort.

There are two knobs on the radio that may help some of you.
1 - Tuning - this can change the station
2 - Volume,Off - Turn down music, or shut it off.
KoRn
RATM
Fear Factory
Limp Bizkit
and many more…
Great Musical talents, and if you listen to the albums, they all demonstrate great musical quality’s.

so this is what it takes to bring me back from ghosting the board…
when I was 14, I got the first RATM album. It opened my eyes to what was around me. I was obliviant to anything beyond my world. I investigated the information on the album and learned more about the world around me. I realized that there were other ideals held than the ones my parents had. Although I didnt agree with everything RATM said, what they got me interested in helped to form my own ideas about what happened. I’m now left of Center while my parents are Right.
plus I think their music rocks and Lb are just cheap pretenders.
They have balls to stand up for what they believe, which is more thaqn I can say about alot of things.
As for politics having a place in modern music, why make the distinction?
Politics have always been in music, so why shouldn’t it be there now?
for instance, what would “Subterrainian Homesick Blues” be without the meaning behind it?
