> BTW. when the ark was on the tramp steamer, it burned off the Nazi stencil on the wooden crate. But it didn’t do so when it was packed in the US Army crate at the end of the film. So is the conclusion that the ark itself or the Jewish God was cool with the ark being in the custody of the US Army but not the Nazis?

[I mentioned this in another thread so long ago](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=6218081&posted=1#post6218081), and I appear to be in an incredibly small minority, but I always thought the ending with the warehouse implied that Indy’s securing the Ark for America was behind the Allies’ victory. “An army that carries the Ark before it is invincible.”

Here’s how crazy I was at the time: when they showed the warehouse, I thought _How many of these bogus Arks did they manufacture, anyway?_

Harrison Ford’s a _quarter_ Jewish; not too shabby.

Jobs gave people the Apple, that snake.

For some reason that made me genuinely laugh out loud, thanks!

I _really_ like that theory, but then Indiana Jones was always my favourite movie hero.

> I suspect that if Indy had opened up the Ark, why there’d have been two tablets in place. Nary a scratch on 'em.

His face would have melted. _That’s why he screams at Marion not to look at it_.

The Nazis and Belloq are guilty of hubris and arrogance in the eyes of God, so they get fried. The Ark is vengeful, to say the least.
