Raised religious; my parents were missionaries & my dad is an ordained minister. On the other hand, we had a wall of science fiction books & my dad feuded bitterly with his brother, who was and is a conservative fundamentalist. ---

Indifferent/religious/atheist. My parents were lazy but maybe nominally considered themselves Baptist by raising and had dabbled in other things, but the big G and J only ever came up the two times a year they’d say grace and to vaguely answer ‘who’s this Jesus?’ questions around Christmas when the songs came up. Easter was about candy and vinegar-based dyes. Practically no talk of God, but I only identified as atheist after hearing the term at school. Then after a divorce when I was 9 there was a unilateral attempt by one parent to Jesus us up in a religious they’d dabbled in before my birth, which I was game for because I liked that parent most (o, how I wanted to memorize the Articles of Faith and believe them and fit in! My sister and I were like a conversion project for our ward) but. . . it didn’t take and by 13 had returned to unaffiliated. ---

Raised indifferently. I recall my parents trying different churches, then suddenly Dad just started sleeping in on Sundays. ---

My family are mostly agnostic or atheist. My mother (who was my primary caregiver) is a sort of fuzzy New Age “spiritual” person, and I was taken to quite a few drumming circles/sweat lodges/chanting groups, but there was never a sense of a cohesive faith or doctrine. My own seeking in my teenage years led me variously to Wicca, Buddhism, and Asatru, before I finally realised that though I was trying \*really hard \* to believe, I just…didn’t.
