For those with less familiarity with the Boston Marathon - the qualifying time for the 40-44 male age group is 3:20:59 - 3:20:59 or bust, I doff my cap to you, sir.
If that isn’t an encouragement to live fast and die young, I don’t know what is.

I am in awe of you. Many congratulations.
Wow.
When my brother was in that age group he ran a 3:21:00 trying to qualify. They let him in anyway.
You have an extra second.
I knew what your username meant as soon as I saw it.
Wow, I thought that was a typo too! Congrats, OP, that’s amazing!
I was training for a marathon last summer but got injured after a 10 mile training run. I’m signing up for a half marathon training group this week, training for a half at the end of May.
Slow and steady! You are an inspiration.
Must be coincidence but registration for an actual organized trail run that I’ve heard a lot of good things about opened on Monday, so feeling all excited from Sunday I just took the plunge and have signed up for my first “real event”, the Dick Collins Fire Trail 50. For those who know the East Bay it’s a 50 mile round trip from Lake Chabot to Tilden Park and back. I’m quite familiar with a little more than half of the trails and there’s plenty of time between now and October to get in some runs along the rest.
This is also a qualifying run for the Western States Endurance race but I think I’ll ratchet up my lunacy in small steps ![]()
A few years ago I would never have thought that I’d do something like this. It’s amazing how much we find that we are capable of when we push our boundaries a bit at a time.
Pikers, the lot of them. Try The Barkley. You might not finish, but at least you’ll be miserable.
