I would, but I was so turned off from my 10 minutes of listening that I cannot bear to listen again…ok maybe I will…
But her likening someone to the Nazis because they support Christmas remaining in the public square, since it offends jews, is pulled from somewhere in her nether regions. There is no comparison.
Also, in her discussion of the war, she is either woefully misinformed or only interested in illustrating things that make GWB look bad.
Both sets are nothing but propoganda that is WILLINGLY tuned into by their True Believers for the sake of reinforcing their preconcieved notions. People don’t tune in for anything constructive, they tune in to hear about the latest attrocities performed by the other side.
They are not Talk of the Nation…hell, they’re not even The Daily Show.
The only difference between them (other than the tilt of their content) is that one side has gotten a 20-year head start on their hatemongering.
As someone aware of my own bias I’ll admit that I find the Lefty Radio much more tolerable than the Righty Radio. However, I also recognize that I find it so because they’re telling me what I want to hear.
Which is, of course, what they do - make sure their base stays their base, while selling steel buildings.
If you don’t have a local outlet yet, and you don’t have satrad, you can get Air America Radio on your computer. Go to http://www.airamericaradio.com/ and look for a button that says “Listen Live.” You’ll need either RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.
Several hosts are on vacation this week, so you may get a sub or a “best-of” show.
I think the point is that, while Randi may have bombastic leftward opinions and Rush has bombastic rightward opinions,AtomicDog is looking for examples of Randi actually lying about a factual matter. Y’know, her equivalent of Rush’s claim that condoms are ineffective against AIDS because they fail 20% of the time, or that the US Congress opposed the first Gulf War.
Bingo. I’ll be the first to admit that she has enough hyperbole to launch a Saturn V, but I have yet to see someone give an example of something she said that was not true, and that she should have known was not true.
I think we’re seeing more false equivalence from the right here. Frex, I started a thread about how much I dislike Randi Rhodes, but what I dislike about her is her style, not her substance. She does a lot of moaning and blathering that’s full of factual content. But when she DOES get down to the facts, she tends to be very accurate and to acknowledge her sources. Frex, one day she was talking about the damage done by the Plame leak and she cited a discussion she had with an unnamed CIA spook who said that people had definitely been killed as a result of the Plame leak. She was very clear that SHE trusted the source, but she understood when callers challenged the source as anonymous and therefore unverifiable.
I don’t think Rush does the same thing at all. They’re not equal. There’s NO equivalence between Air America and hate radio on the right. Air America is much more accurate and informative, across the board.
Oh, that’s a great idea, Glutton ; bring our side down to the level of the ignorant dittoheads!
Knee-jerk political commentary is the territory of ignoramuses, whether they come from the left or the right. I much prefer a more detailed discussion of the issues at hand. Yeah, we all know Dubya sucks, but how about an involved discussion of why ? Name-calling and mud-slinging is exactly what’s wrong with politics and political discussion today!
Somewhere between the shrill rantings of Randi Rhodes and the mealy-mouthed twerpery of Alan Colmes would be just about right.
I have heard of Ed Schultz, but never listened to his program. Now that I know it’s on XM, I’ll definitely give him a try.
I seem to remember short radio commentaries by Jim Hightower a while back; is he still on the air? I enjoyed his book, If God Wanted Us To Vote, He Would’ve Given Us Candidates, very much.
