Oh yeah… 1. In the mid and late 70s, I was a successful game show contestant (Match Game and Blockbusters, a game show that went exactly NOwhere), and won a total of $11,500 and several lovely parting gifts. 2. Visited Leningrad (when it was Leningrad). 3. I, too, have an accent fetish (especially Scottish). I worry too much about what others think of me. I tend to do my best work under pressure (procrasinate, much?). I love going to Renn Faires. I despise spiders. ---

I love oranges I dispise people who pretend to be something they aren’t and think they have people fooled I had several poems published when I was in high school in a national women’s magazine I’ve never broken a bone I love dogs and hate cats I’m proud to be a southern born and bred lady and yes I do have the accent that goes with it I spend too much time on the computer I love working outdoors in my yard and I love doing handyman things Australian men have the sexiest accent Over the course of my life I have been proposed to 11 times by 11 different men I try to treat others as I would like to be treated I am and always have been the clown of the crowd I’ve never met a stranger ## I like to sit in public places and watch people and how they act “Do or do not, there is no try” - Yoda ---

I have a poem published, somewhere, from one of those things where you enter a contest, and if you’re good you get published, and if you’re REALLY good, you get cash. I’d rather of had the cash… ---

Other useless Shirley Facts: I can pull the most amazing facts out of thin air at the weirdest times to amaze my friends. I once heckled Cecil Fielder (baseball player) so good that he turned and gave me a dirty look. SDMB is to me what crack is to an addict. I miss Raul Julia. I’ve only been in a hospital for having a baby. My husband gets sick every time we are about to go on vacation. (He’s allergic to time off, I’ve decided.) I’ve received two letters from Dave Barry. Every author I’ve written too, I’ve received a nice hand written letter back from. I, too, adore accents. Zee more outrahgeous, zee better! My dog doesn’t mind being vaccuumed with a hose. ---

I have a callous on my right foot. I’d like to get a new printer for my computer but… I just got my new entertainment center so I am going to be broke for a while. It is 5:30 in the afternoon and I am still sitting around in my nightshirt. I’m bored as hell. ---

1. I love commercials. 2. I am the most impatient person I know. 3. I can not sit still, I am worse than a four year old! 4. I love painting and can tune out everything for hours on end when I do it. I loved being an older student at college, now I love my job. Got lucky. I love to read. Have all my life. If there was one thing that I would give to kids or other people, it is the joy of reading.
