E.coli bacterium have what can be considered male and female members of the species, and pass on genetic material via a Sex Pilii (If I could spell it, I would).

Basically it’s a plasmid that allows the E.coli to generate a long hollow tube which then penetrates an E.coli without the plasmid. Then a copy of the E.coli’s genome is transfered to the ‘female’. The amount of time the two E.coli and the amount of genetic material transfered varies for each ‘copulation’.

Biology is BIZZARE.
