Just because I am fully aware of how fascinatin’ y’all find the minutiae of my life I shall share the followin’. Wednesday is our garbage pick up day out in da hood. It didn’t happen. Thus I was goin’ to call this mornin’ to find out why. However, before I could do so, I got a call from the county utility department informin’ me that it would get picked up today along with an apology for missin’ yesterday due to some mechanical problems with the trucks. I just think it’s 🆒 they called to let me know without me callin’ first. That is all ---

Ya know I am as much for smaller government on all levels as just about anyone but even I recognize that much government out there is still good government full of people trying to do a good job out there. Sounds like you have some of that. Good to hear. I hear a story on our station last night about people are upset in Frederick County, MD that the new 911 center bought $1200 chairs for the 911 staffers. Not the whole building, just the 911 staffers. Sorry, couldn’t find myself getting worked up about it. These folks work 12 hour shifts sitting. They don’t get the option of walking around at will. Not that many chairs. And no doubt they will last longer, making their cost per year much more affordable. Damn media. ---

\*\*tugig \*\*- I’m finding there’s disgusting waste in the contractor world, but it’s a no-win situation. If you report the waste and/or abuse, you pretty much get branded as a tattle-tale or not-a-team-player and you never get another contract again. So everyone plays the dirty game, even if they want to be ethical. It’s like when whistleblowers get fired… damned if you do, damned if you don’t. _\_ ---

Sure $1200 a chair seems high, but then they are high end specialty chairs, and crap costs money these days. Now if all the managers and secretaries had to have them, then I’d be a tad pissed. 911 ops, not so much. To do my job I use a $12k camera on a $5k tripod with about another $6k of accessories. I really need a better lens which costs $18k but I am not holding my breath on that one. I have coworkers who are stuck with $4k crap cameras that management is sure are as good as the bigger ones, but they are most certainly not. Anyway if you might have any good contractor waste stories… j/k. Much drama on the home front but I may have won out. Will tell the tale when it’s over. It’s a long one. ---

Bite my ass, TVCTPMO! I had my day made for me this morning. I found out at a team meeting that comments I made on some engineering documents were used as material to give the prime contractor a decent spanking. Can’t elaborate much further, mostly because the full story is boring as hell. :)🆒😃 ---

Happy birthday, **Buttercup**!! Mouse has a nickname now, and it’s Pottymouth, 'cause he won’t stop eating poop. Not just ANY poop; he prefers his aged, it seems. And small enough to hide in his mouth so he can sneak by mom into the house to snack on later. /facepalm So anti-poop-mouth activities have begun in earnest. He doesn’t seem as annoyed by the water-squirter that I also use to ride herd on the cats when they’re in the yard, but it does startle him, and as this is the only thing I’ve ever been ‘NO!!!’ with him about, I am hoping I can keep him out of trouble. He was barfing the other night, and I just don’t want to imagine what that crap does to his tummy, or anything else. Yep, he’s got his shots, but still. BLEARF!! Hope he grows out of it, too. I can be Mean Mom when I need to be, but I’d rather this wasn’t a 24/7 job for the rest of his life, lol. 🙂 ---

Self pat on the back - I have a rule that I have only 5 seconds to dream up a snappy comeback after anything is said. I was on a long drive back from a shoot with a coworker, having a pretty deep conversation about some shit, I forget exactly what, but he laughed at my ability to make reason out of a fucked up situation. My answer: “Dude I’ve been married twice. I can throw enough logic at a pretzel to make it a breadstick.” I’m kinda proud of that one. ---

Hey, **kopek**! Loverly to see you again! Last night as I was chopping up onions for my sketty sauce, I realized that we haven’t seen \*\*LiLi \*\*in a while. Hope it’s just because she’s living a busy, fulfilled life and not because her kids have tied her up and stuffed her in a closet or something… :eek: And on that note, my lunch is done and I need to get back to figuring out these cable assemblies. We’ll see if the email answering my gazillion questions makes sense to me. My coworker in PA is great about clearing things up for me, plus she laughs at my stoopit comments. An ICD is an Interface Control Document, and it’s purpose is to provide a one-stop document for a system to communicate with something else over a given interface. The topic was a ruggedied Ethernet network in a drone that I work on. As it stands right now, all I can do holding this document is use it to find the network equipment sitting in an airframe. I recommend this document be rejected. The phrase “woefully inadequate” was what endeared me to the Commander that did the spanking. 😃 In the prime contractor’s defense, they are under a time crush, and needed to have these documents ready for a design review. They promulgated stuff that was little more than templates to meet their obligation, on the hope that nobody would notice, then do the job properly afterwards. I was a little nicer on a different ICD I reviewed this morning. There I said I could use the document to wire the interface in the lab, but since it too lacked the data portion, that would be as far as I got.
