Which is why _You Only Live Twice_ makes the list.

Never Say Never had one of the worse most contrived death scenes for a villain. Of course I mean the death of Fatima Blush via exploding pen.

> My top five:
> The Roger Moore films hold up least well for me, but that’s due more to truly dire scripts and direction than Moore himself, although he definitely was way too old by the end of his run.

I discovered the Bond films as an adolescent during the Roger Moore years and had to go back to re-watch all of them over the years, discovering that I liked Connery and Lazenby more. Then came Dalton and he was so frigg’n gorgeous and moody I could even forgive the ruffled tuxedos.

I re-watched every single one just two years ago with a boyfriend and I realized that the Moore films are so pithy and full of bad comedy that hasn’t held up over the years. The deliberate quips directly at the camera were banal at best and it was only the single Lazenby reference that he was a replacement (after the opening beach sequence when he says, “this never happened to the other guy”) makes the humor brilliant.

Curiously, these are all the points I would observe that make the film bad. That, and Jimmy Dean.

James Bond: You’re one of the most beautiful girls I’ve ever seen.
Tatiana Romonova: Thank you, but I think my mouth is too big.
James Bond: No, it’s the right size… for me, that is.

For your eyes only (talking about the Moore films) was pretty good as was the one with Christopher Lee whose name I can’t recall.

Moonraker and a View to a Kill OTH were awful.

_The Man With The Golden Gun_? This one is generally considered to be in competition with _Die Another Day_ for worst (Eon) Bond film ever. Not that this was Christopher Lee’s fault (or even Moore’s, for that matter) but still…awful. Even Britt Ekland in a bikini couldn’t redeem this film.

Both **The Man with the Golden Gun** and **Moonraker** are veritable classics compared to **A View to a Kill** and **Die Another Day** , a.k.a. the Bond films’ nadir.

Yes he was very serious Bond, I always wondered why his two films have such a bad reputation.

Yes. _Moonraker_ was stupid-silly, but still fun; basically a reply of _The Spy Who Loved Me_ with a _Star Wars_ influence. _The Man With the Golden Gun_ was just a random string of yawning action sequences with some kind of plot about a master hitman killing people to gain control of the “Solar Agitator” for purposes unfathomable. Lee, Maude Adams, and even Moore all deserved to be in a better film.

_The Man With the Golden Gun_ at least had some great scenery and Scaramanga’s junk (the boat!) which I want more than any other Bond prop. The absolute worst Bond movie ever **has** to be _A View To A Kill_.

Yes. It’s continually between VtoK (boring retread of **Goldfinger** featuring possibly the worst Bond girl ever\*) and DAD (preposterousness taken to new lows with the invisible car, featuring possibly the worst Bond girl ever\*).

\*Horrid as both Tonya Roberts and Halle Berry are, they both _might_ be upstaged by the wooden awfulness on display in Lois Chiles’ performance in **Moonraker**. Happily, one has Michael Lonsdale’s wonderful performance as Hugo Drax to compensate. Erm, and Jaws falling in love, too. (Or not.))

I always recommend the “Golden Trilogy” as the best Bonds.

1. Goldfinger
2. The Man with the Golden Gun
3. Goldeneye

I would throw Casino Royale up there too, but it doesn’t have “gold” in the title 😉

As for the worst Bond movies, it is a tie

You Only Live Twice
Moonraker

“I give you best duck.” huh? Sean Connery can pass as Japanese:confused: Blofeld doesn’t shoot Bond, and then walks 10 feet into the next room where all his hencemen are getting their asses kicked, and then decides to shoot him? Makes no sense…

Bond in Space, Jaws in Love, Laser guns, and standing under a spaceshuttle taking off, all good reasons for it to be worst.

Die Another Day is in contention too, the premise at the beginning of the movie is good, but once it gets to Cuba, downhill from there. White Guys are actually Korean, obvious CG effects, Madonna, ugh…

The Man With the Golden Gun would be better if the movie were just about the man with the golden gun and didn’t have that solar power plot thrown in

1. **Goldfinger** - An absolute classic. Grade: **A+**
2. **You Only Live Twice** - Made classic by the SPECTRE Lair, and Blofeld (Pleasance was epic) Grade: **A+**
3. **GoldenEye** - Brosnan’s best proformance. Grade: **A**
4. **The World Is Not Enough** - Give Richards, this is easily one of the best overall ACTION Bond films. Grade: **A-**
5. **Live and Let Die** - Great Theme song, Good debut for Moore, and Solitare is a Top 5 Bond Girl. Grade: **A-**
6. **Thunderball** - Sean Connery was at his peak in this one. The underwater scenes sometimes became a bore. Grade: **A-**
7. **Dr. No** - The Origional. But probably the worst graphics. Dr. No (character) is one of the less memorable villans of the series. Grade: **B+**
8. **On Her Majesty’s Secret Service** - The acting was not horrid. The EDITING was horrid. Fight scenes were choppy, but non-action sequences had depth. Added bonus: Diana Rigg. Grade: **B**
9. **Diamonds Are Forever** - Weak plot, but strong acting. Connery should have stayed through 1980. Grade: **B**
10. **Casino Royale** - Not my favorite Bond. Craig is missing the seduction of Connery, and the charm of Moore. Plot is solid, could have been executed sharper. Grade: **B**
11. **The Spy Who Loved Me** - Memorable for Moore’s acting. The Bond girls were utterly forgettable. Grade: **B-**
12. **The Man With The Golden Gun** - Lee plays probably the 3rd best villan, but the plot, and the overall nature of the movie is lacking for a Bond thriller. Grade: **C+**
13. **From Russia With Love** - The worst of Connery’s work (says somthing that his worst is ranked above any from Dalton). Grade: **C+**
14. **For Your Eyes Only** - The least memorable final scene of any Bond movie, though the “detante” line is representative of Moore’s rendition of Bond. Grade: **C**
15. **License To Kill** - Made watchable by the Bond girls. Dalton gave nothing to the Bond role. He seems to want to do ANYTHING but be Bond. This is the teen rebelion Bond of the series. Grade: **C-**
15. **Die Another Day** - Hallie Berry. Thats the only positive. Brosnan (though a great Bond) was getting old. It didnt have the punch of its predicesors, and instead relied on finese, which epicly failed. Grade: **C-**
16. **A View To A Kill** - Actually given a bad reputation for a fairly well made movie. Not a typical Bond villan, but Walken plays a cool, calculated psychopath, who legitimately frightens you because of his spontaneous nature. Moore is far too old though, and this Bond Girl is the Worst of the series. Screamer Galore should have been her name. Grade: **D+**
17. **Quantum of Solace** - Confusing plot, weak acting, and a Bond prefromance that rivals Dalton for worst all time. Grade: \*\*D+ \*\*
18. **Tomorrow Never Dies** - Wait… I just watched a Bond film? What happened again? It was THAT forgetable. Brosnan was weak, and the plot of a “media mogul” causing war to monopolize Chinese media is stretching it, even for Bond. Grade: **D**
19. **Octopussy** - Other than the name it was horrid. Moore didnt put forth any effort, and it left you confused as to what was supposed to be going on. Grade: **D**
20. **The Living Daylights** - Dalton was at his worst. Like a pouting child rather than Bond. Not strong, nor robust in his role. You end up asking, what in the Living Daylights were they thinking in making this film. Grade: **D-**
21. **Moonraker** - Trying to compete with Star Wars was a HUGE mistake. This rivals a B-moive is overall precision, and acting. The “Bond Girl” had no chemestry with Moore, and putting a laser fight in space in a Bond movie should be sacreligious. Grade: **F**

> _GoldenEye_. Some nice character touches, Bond in the Aston Martin (wicked cute babe riding shotgun), the new M’s no-nonsense attitude, and Q without the stick in his ass. And one of my favorite bits of Bond dialog:
>
> “Ah, an ex-KGB guy. Tough mother. Got a limp in his right leg. Name’s Zukovsky.”
> “Valentin Dmitrovitch Zukovsky?”
> “Yeah, you know him?”
> “I gave him the limp.”

Which sets up a later great bit of dialog:

{FX: Sound of gun slide being cocked.}
“Walther PPK. I only know three people who use such a gun. I belive I’ve killed two of them.”
“Lucky me.”
{FX: Sound of gun slide being cocked.}
