From an old thread I started a while back ([What’s your favorite nut?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=613112) ), [This Post](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=13935347&postcount=37) would serve as a summary of the polling. Use the list if you like, but include your own favorites (including peanuts!) in a ranking list (high to low preference). Include as many as you really like. ---

My list (at the present moment – and subject to change): 1. Pecan 2. Pistachio 3. Cashew 4. Hazelnut/filbert 5. Hickory nut (shagbark or scalybark) 6. Macadamia 7. Peanut (Yes, it’s a nut!) 8. Almond 9. Walnut 10. Brazil nut 11. there has to be another one I like – help! If you could design your own Mixed Nuts sampler or can, what percentages of what nuts would be in it? ---

1. Almonds: versatile, lower in fat than some, good smoked or roasted; also see almond paste and almond extract. 2. Walnuts: great for baking and the oil is a good wood finishing product 3. Peanuts: god help me, I love 'em 4. Pecans: sweet goodness Cashews and macadamia nuts, while good, get cloying pretty quickly for me. ---

Since I couldn’t think of a way to build a poll to accomplish it, after we have a reasonable sampling of preferences I’ll try to generate a “consensus ranking” of the replies, for whatever that might be worth. ---
