I think I found a new escapee from the local educational system today at the deli counter. I asked for two thirds of a pound of stuff, and her head started swelling. She shaves off a quarter pound. Then I get the look. More. Two thirds. More cutting ensues. When she was done, .8lbs was on the scale. Then the confusion of what numbers to punch in grew. After a long search of the chart, she asked her clueless coworker, who pulled numbers out of his rear. I didn’t order Polish Kilbasa, but it cost less that what was in the bag… ---

Every morning I wake up with my left arm completely asleep, numb, cold. The chiropractor worked on me yesterday and only my hand went numb this morning. But it’s bugging me right now as I sit here and probably will again when I get in my car. It is not painful per se, but incredibly annoying and takes a while to wake up. ---

WTF grocery store? You don’t have cherry turnovers in the frozen aisle, but _raspberry_? I’m glad I noticed the difference before I bought them! Fortunately, they DID have apple. I want CHERRY dammit! ---

OMG, it has almost been a year. Good on him for taking up a sport that involves him working the muscles he can use. His stubborn streak is a good thing when it comes to his recovery. My not a rant: The reason Bill flew back to Oklahoma was because people were driving their 4-wheel drive vehicles to the job site and chaining themselves to the heavy equipment to protest the Keystone project. This is like the 5th time its happened. Public opinion is really important with this sort of thing, so they can’t do anything but shut down and wait for the police to deal with the protesters. I bought him a pair of fireman’s boots for his birthday because he spends most of his time stomping fires out. I reminded Bill that he has problems with certain foods, when he eats them, he gets lots of gas and will sometimes puke. Of course, Bill didn’t want to offend anyone and just accidently ate those things. He was not at home with someone who watches his diet, and might have accidently FARTED under the equipment while he was steadying himself to kneel down and talk to them. I used to have a friend who had a toddler who always went straight to the cat bowls to eat the kibble when they came to visit. One day, we might have been smoking something and we tried the kibble. I can certainly understand why CB thinks that cat food needs something to flavor it. ---

I think that most people working in retail have to push keys and look at the display to see the correct numbers. Not because they are idiots, but because they are trained to do that. I remember how I was when I was slinging hamburgers. The work environment was WORK HARDER!!! WORK FASTER!!! Over in another thread I’m advocating sustainable, healthy eating, my argument based on the biochemical nuances of factory-farmed food - at the same time conveniently overlooking that as I child I happily consumed mass quantities of Vaseline, Pacquin’s skin creme, and BBs. Rant: I had to spend a good chunk of my work week preparing an application for an internal posting for which I am genuinely the best candidate. Management strongly encouraged me to apply, to demonstrate that I am interested in leadership. At the same time, it was heavily implied that another person is slotted for the job and that the decision was made long before anything was even posted. And I have to be gracious about it. ---
