Try to ignore that this means nuclear material from inside a reactor was released BEFORE the first explosion in building one. Looks like that worker who reported smoke and damage to reactor one right after the earthquake was simply telling the truth. And based on new data released from TEPCO, it seems reactor one melted down before the tsunami even hit. ---

Just like the radiation deaths , the mutations take time. Then they will persist. This is not like Chernobly, way out in the boonies. They can not fence this off for a century or two. Land is too precious in Japan. Chernobyl area has lots of mutations.
