Yes, yes it is funny. There’s a whole category of humor called “black comedy” and this fits into that rather well. It’s also a good opportunity to express outright schadenfreude; in other words, since the guy who died was a total piece of shit, and because he’s dead and can’t be affected by what we say, we don’t have to feel bad for making fun of him. None of us would belittle the woman’s suffering to her face, and I hope you don’t think we would. Of course it’s tragic. I myself was a victim of sexual assault committed by an adult family member when I was a child–it’s fucking awful. But the fact that a rapist died while committing rape is, quite frankly, fucking hilarious. Different strokes for different folks and all that. ---
