Rats!

Ash, I will keep you in mind if my dear unbeloved bro decides to dump a couple rats on me again. Not that I mind but I am hard pressed to feed the animals I HAVE already.
Most of them dump on me by someone else…
I am not that far from you… actually I work in Roy. If you like nice hot delivered pizza from daHut chance are I have brought it to you

Willis is a big, fat albino, so is our ferret. I like albino also.

Oh no, ANOTHER pet to add to our zoo? Three cats, a pygmy hamster (you wanna see cute!), a ferret, a rat, two big turtles, fish, and the now dearly departed lizard. We had to give the birds away because the kitty cats thought they were meant to be food.

I have actually considered getting Willis a friend but he is old and huge and I wasn’t sure how to introduce a new animal and if he would even accept it.

Any suggestions?

Hey, check out the Utah Dopers in the rat thread!

Hey Diane!
Yeah I tried starting a Utah Dopers get together thread… but it seems to have fizzled. One of my outdoor cats had a rat this afternoon… I did allow the rat to hide under the slide…Talk about your conflicts of interest!
Azoo? Yep, 4 indoor cats, 2 outdoor(their choice), 3 rabbits, 2 dogs, 1 lizard, 1 boy and 1 husband!

<<Oh, and in case you’re interested, Corrvin, in the world of official rat business, Lemmy is a beige berkshire.>>

Yeah, well, she much prefers her other title of Future World-Conquering Genius. But she likes to be told she’s beautiful, too.

The rat cage is 15" by 30" by 30" and is on top of a perfectly sized dresser that someone was throwing out and I found, so the top of it is above eye level. I don’t think the Maglet could get himself way up there (yet). He’s still learning the lesson of Don’t Bite The Big Cats’ Tails this week.

Toshiro–you work at the Pizza Hut that’s on that corner right across from the Texaco?

Dude–I live like–right down the street. In the Orchard Cove apartments.

Now that I know yer workin’ there, I’ll hafta start calling more deliverymen.

It -is- kinda odd how we’ve got like…what–3 Utah dopers posting in this thread? That’s gotta be almost 90 percent of us!

Here, Diane: http://www.rmca.org/Resources/aintro.txt

It’s best to get two new friends so when he passes on, you’re not stuck with another lone rat, but then you get thrown into a constant rat cycle. If you really aren’t looking forward to any new animals and he is old, just give him extra love

Yah Ash, thats the one I work at… although I should point out that “dude” isnt exactly an accurate description of me.
Sorry…but it probly me flying thru the Cove doing Mach 5. I actually slowed down when they put in the speed bumps
Drop by and say HI!

I have two pet rats, but they bite…not to be mean but it still hurts like hell and they draw blood. So they don’t come out of their cage.

I love rats! It would be great to get a pet rat, but methinks Mr. Del would be on the next train out of town if I even suggested it. In my fantasy life, I would have a rat and name him Scabbers, and we would be best friends, and go frolicking around hand-in-paw all the time.

For those of you that have rats, do you let them play with your cats? Are the cats ok around the rats? Our cat is lazy, and also very friendly with other cats and dogs. On the very slim chance (think snowball and hell) that I can get a pet rat, is it possible that the cat and the rat could be trusted to play together (with supervision, of course)?

My ratSamantha, the one that hung herself accidentally, used to hide under my malteses fur. She and my big siamese would play together. He would bop her on the butt and she’d run about 5 inches and he’d bop her again… “Look Mom! Push toys!” I have two mousers now so I dunno if I would let a rat out without supervision.
