[Ray Bradbury died this morning](http://io9.com/5916175/rip-ray-bradbury-author-of-fahrenheit-451-and-the-martian-chronicles?utm_campaign=socialflow_io9_facebook&utm_source=io9_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow). He’s long been my favorite of the ‘giants’ of Sci-fi (cue the Simpsons’ quote now). His poetry and imagery were captivating in a way that set his writing apart. 91 years is a long life, so good for him. My favorite has always been _Something Wicked This Way Comes_. ---

“You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” RIP, Ray Bradbury ---

Aw, man! I’ll miss the crazy old coot he had become almost as much as I’ll miss the wonderful speaker, story-teller and bringer of wonder he used to be. Thank you, Ray, for the stories, the personal time, and all the visions you gave to generations of us. R. I. P. ---

Long expected but still a sad day. Bradbury was an amazing writer. He may have been somewhat limited in his scope and palette but within those he was untouched as the best in the field for a very long time. Nobody understood that f&sf could truly be modern literature until he came along. ---

☹ My nine-year-old self thanks my father for bringing me Fahrenheit 451 and then Mr. Bradbury for decades of imagination. ---

Nooo! I JUST re-read There Will Come Soft Rains last night… an apropo eulogy, I suppose, but he’ll live on longer than he probably ever thought. Wow. A legend. I’ll step on a butterfly in his honor. ---

Too hard to choose. He has a lot of A+ works. Maybe he’s really just in _the Veldt._ Of which, I’m playing that [song](http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/veldt-feat.-chris-james-single/id525010394) right now. Next up, “We Will Become Silhouettes” by The Postal Service. Just, whatever you do, do not rent the movie _A Sound of Thunder._ I’m surprised that movie alone didn’t kill him; or Ben Kingsley’s career. ---
