Raymond Chandler write a book about Michael Jackson?!

He’s also screwed up the quote in the title:

Not all that tempts your wand’ring eyes
And heedless hearts, is lawful prize;
Nor all, that glisters, gold.

Thomas Gray, from Ode on the Death of a Favourite Cat

I hate it when people misquote that, or worse still attribute it to Shakespeare. On the subject of Michael Jackson, he gets about a bit: he’s also commanding the British forces in Iraq.

You’ll note “My Evil Twin” and I link our web sites!

And from reading her description, I’d swear you two are indeed twins!

“All that glisters is not gold.”

— Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice (II, vii), 150 years before Thomas Gray’s poem.

It’s not impossibly shocking; Nathanael West wrote a book about Homer Simpson.

I hate being wrong even worse. Serves me right for relying on the Oxford Dictionary Of Quotations, which lists Gray but not Shakespeare.

This Raymond Chandler is the uncle of Jordie Chandler, which would explain his attachment to the surname. I’ve just watched the Channel 4 documentary featuring Chandler, which was interesting to say the least.

That’s the Channel 4 documentary Michael Jackson’s Boys.
