Her screeds are a companion piece to "[It’s Evening in America", says Today’s GOP.](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=600420) The Glen Beck/Tea Party/Susanann crowd have given up on America. If it DOESN’T fail, they’ll be horribly dissappointed. Honestly though, it’s kind of sad to see Susanann posting from 1975, expecting that by 1998 we’d all be irradiated mutants living in underground domes and worshipping atomic bombs. Because we all know that if there’s a trend, it must continue on linearly into the future, and there’s no possibility of the trend changing or reversing. This is why the economic growth of the 50s continued forever, the inflation of the 70s continued forever, the war of the 40s continued forever, and the depression of the 30s continued forever. ---

How much ya’ll wanna bet Susanann goes to church every Sunday and believes in the power of prayer? If American Christians actually believed half the stuff they preach, they would be the most carefree people on the planet. Indeed, many of them were just a couple of years ago. But something has changed between now and then. I wonder what that thing was. ---
