You know, if you did a phone poll on the greatest movies of all time, you’d probably get **Best Man** as number one, this week, and **Bewitched** as number one if you waited a week. A friend of mine once told me that Europe is where they think 100 miles is a long way, and America is where they think 100 years is a long time. Change the last to “100 days,” and I think you’ve got pop culture nailed. This doesn’t surprise me at all, and it doesn’t take rigging: it just takes people with no sense of history and no knowledge about George Washington (he was the guy that invented peanut butter, right?) but access to a telephone. I’m not surprised at all. I never watched the show, but when I saw him in the top ten I knew what was coming. President Bush at number 6? That’s surprising. I don’t mean this as an anti bush or reagan swipe, but what is wrong with our culture? Crack addled fruit flies laugh at our attention span. I just have to make sure. Britney Spears wasn’t on the list, was she? ---
