Reagan the greatest American???

Then I misread your post. Sorry. (It’s been a long weekend, and I’m stuffed to the gills with PA history as it is.)

Robin

Really? Check this site out. It’ll clear things up for you greatly.

I generally agree, but the problem is the rest of us who don’t think that get it too.

Actually, Gibson sounds more like an American than an Australian to me anyway. His Aussie accent has pretty much disappeared.

Oprah Winfrey ahead of Eleanor Roosevelt and Rosa Parks, no less. Good grief.

This is exactly why I was hoping for that 1-2 combo. It would have caused a complete meltdown for some.

For some reason I am having a hard time getting worked up over a phone-in popularity contest. I would’ve voted for Washington, but then again I never even thought to vote.

Glad to oblige, hope you enjoyed it

I feel your pain. I also blame Reagan and Bush on all of us who obviously didn’t work hard enough to stop them. For our failures in trying to convince our countrymen to vote otherwise, we deserve them too.

What???!!! No Batman, Abbie Hoffman, Bettie Page or Cecil on the list?

That’s just sad.

What show?

I don’t think you misread anything, MsRobyn; Liberal reasons from postulates that are very different from yours or mine. The authority of the government to tax is an absolutely bad thing in his eyes, an unconscionable coercion.

Me, I think Washington was a bit of a stuffed shirt, and while I admire Jefferson tremendously, his notions of democracy would have crippled America. My vote for greatest American would have gone to Alexander Hamilton.

I don’t get it. In what way is he evil?

If you judge ‘greatness’ by the wait time at their funearal Reagan is pretty far up there.

Nonsense. The Reagan memorial-funeral-burial-clambake-and-garage-sale, with all its attendant praise and walks down memory lane, came after Clinton.

So what Reagan did for us lately is die?

I guess we’ll see if Clinton’s funeral puts him ahead of Bush and/or Reagan.
