If I understand the OP correctly there was “THE BOOK” by O’Brien, a member of the Inner Party.
This was in “1984” by George Orwell, born Eric Blair.
Of the three historical chapters, we got to read part of one chapter and all of another. A third was never “read” to us. There was also supposed to be a concluding section, ostensibly outlining a strategy for freeing people of Big Brother’s tyranny, but was composed solely to raise false hopes for rebels.
ETA: Oh, okay, here it is:
“The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism” by Emmanuel Goldstein…
Goldstein, the main individual subject of the daily “ten minutes hate” was allegedly a real individual, formerly an ally, supposedly still alive, who still lurked around (based on Trotsky?) and continually spread “corrupting” thought, was the alleged author.
But O’Brien, who was especially adept at “doublethink” was the actual author, in addition to being Winston Smith’s false ally and torturer. The first three chapters were genuine descriptions of how the three superpowers developed, how they were all fundamentally the same regarding freedom of thought, and how and why Oceania in particular gained and maintained its power. After writing these brutally honest historical descriptions, he had no problem reverting to unlimited worship of “Big Brother” and approval of everything “he” was guilty of.
