Dear Mr. Waits, Damn you, Mr. Waits. Why can’t you tour more? Please? 17 years since you were last here, and you do _one_ date in London? It sold out in 30 minutes; tickets are now being sold by **PROFITEERING CUNTS** on ebay for hundreds of pounds, pounds which I do not have. Consequently, I have been awake since 8am on a Saturday trying fruitlessly to ring Amsterdam, where you are playing 3 whole nights, only to be frustrated by the **COMPLETE INABILITY** of the **ENTIRE TECHNICAL COMMUNITY OF THE WORLD** to write a ticketing system capable of **SELLING POPULAR TICKETS!** 8 dates in an entire continent is not enough. I know you hate touring, but you’re so _good_ at it. Please do it more. Please. Had I not done so, your javascript popup asking me if I had fucked up would likely have made no difference, since it covers the information you are asking me to verify. I have clicked on this popup approximately 700 times in the last 5 hours, and I think it’s fairly plain that I am not entering false information to spite you. I hope genetically modified grapes sprout teeth and devour your testicles. Yours, A flaming ball of caffeinated fury who is unable to buy tickets goddammit. And now it’s fucking well sold out. Well **Badger** , I feel your pain. Actually, I probably don’t–since I long ago accepted that the esteemed Mr. Waits will never play a date in the country where I reside, I don’t have it hanging in front of my face like you do. It probably hurts more to know that he’s in town and not be able to go. I agree, 8 nights for a continent, at least a continent that has any taste, is not enough. By the way–at the risk of turning this into a Cafe Society thread, have you heard any samples of _Real Gone_? I’m sure I’ll buy it anyway; I’m just curious to know what it’s like: similar to _Alice_ and _Blood Money_, more like some of his earlier stuff, or a complete departure? He’s by far my favorite musical artist. I’d love to catch his act live, but I think he’s just a little too far from psuedo-rap and techno-pop for a Korean audience. A ticket may still turn up for you, though. Good luck! ---

Thanks - at this point I’m seriously considering applying for a job at the Hammersmith Apollo in order to get in. 🙂 I feel for you out there in Seoul, though - you’d think he’d tour east Asia occasionally, seeing as how he’s big in Japan 'n all. I’ve not heard anything from the new album; from the descriptions he’s given (“cubist funk”) I suspect it’s a bit new, at least musically. Lyrically I’ve heard it’s the usual pirates, down-at-heel hobos and wotnot, but that’s more than fine with me. I completely agree. The man lives within 100 miles of me. Why can’t he just get in his car, with his family, drive down to LA and do a show. Or 5. Or come by my house and say hello. I find it hard to get mad at him, 'cause he’s Tom Waits and all, but this is starting to piss me off. **MrO** , there was a thread in CS started by a doper who has heard Real Gone. He reveiwed it and everything. I don’t have time to do a search right now, but it’s there somewhere. ---
