Real Time With Bill Maher, 3-18-06

Personally, I thought Belzer was being a cock. I certainly do not agree with the views of Ileana Ros-Lehtinen; but Belzer wouldn’t let her finish. In my opinion one should let one’s opponent have his or her say, and then respond. I think that letting a person put forth an argument and then picking it apart is more effective than interrupting and telling the person is full of crap.

Belzer appears to be passionate about his beliefs, but he’s come off rather boorishly both times I’ve seen him on the show. There’s nothing wrong with passion – especially on such divisive issues as were being discussed. But I think that calm, rational debate is better than ranting.

Of course, that would not make ‘good television’.

I loved the ‘It’s a wise choice’ bit. I see a lot of this type of commercial, and it often occurs to me that the side-effects may be worse than the problem. I do think Maher is a crackpot when it comes to medicine; but I think he does have a point that we’re overmedicated.

This was a much better show than the first one this season. And Michelle Mitchell is hot.

Leave the kid alone…he’s autistic; not stupid!

As a person with Asperger’s syndrome, I found the “Shock and Autism” joke hilarious. You now have permission to laugh without feeling guilty.
