As far as I can tell, none of the reputable papers have reported this event. ---

Back when WKRP first came on the air, there was a big to do here in Dallas, Georgia over the call-letters, which were already assigned to an AM station here. I worked in radio in Carrollton, Ga. at the time, so I don’t remember a whole lot about it, but I think the radio station vacated the airways and it became a moot point. Anyone remember? These call letters were most recently assigned to an AM station in North Vernon, Indiana, about 60 miles from Cincinnati, but the call sign was changed to WNVI in 1997 (the station’s calls are now WJCP). Another television station, WLPX-TV in Charleston, West Virginia, held the “WKRP” calls from 1988 to 1998, when the call letters were changed to its present calls. However, the calls were never used on-air – the station did not sign on until August 31, 1998, after the calls were changed. ---
