I love most of these songs, and, in fact, most pop from the 70s and 80s. I have to agree with **Tangent** , though; just by virtue of its subject, **One Night in Bangkok** is the geekiest song ever. OTOH, the fact that someone wrote a pop song about chess makes it one of the _coolest_\* songs ever. (Also, **Safety Dance** is very cool, not geeky at all.) To this list I have to add: **Cherish** - Kool and the Gang **Love Will Keep Us Together** - Captain and Tenille And one that would make anyone’s uncool list, and which I am more than a little ashamed to admit that I secretly like: **I’ve Never Been to Me** by Charlene. ---

Re: _I’ve Never Been To Me_, when Agent Mitzi Elrond is lip-synching this song at the beginning of _Priscilla, Queen of the Desert_ and gets the bottle thrown at him when he finishes? He deserved it just for performing to this song. _nods_ ---

I like most of the music of the 60s that’s considered seminal, or important for whatever reason by rock historians. But I also like some of the other music from the era that tends to be universally sneered at today. I’m talking about all those one-hit wonder songs like “Liar Liar” (by The Castaways). And Question Mark And The Mysterians, who brought us the classic “96 Tears”. Others include: Cherry Baby by Neil Diamond (his only song that I actually do like) Time Won’t Let Me by the Outsiders In The Year 2525 by Zager and Evans Several songs by The Seeds, on the theme of having a good time and more… ---
