The 1954 Disney version is one of the best scifi movies of all time-great cast and acting.
I seem to recall seeing another film version-made some time in the 1960’s-really cheaply made, with cheesey special effects. i revcall that Captain Nemo wore some kind of crazy costume with wings.
IMDB was no help-am I mis-remembering this?

Don’t recall that, but Nemo appeared in Mysterious Island and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen also.

I think you are referring to **Captain Nemo and the Underwater City**.

> Captain Nemo and the Underwater City is a 1969 British film starring Robert Ryan, Chuck Connors and Nanette Newman. It features the character Captain Nemo and is inspired by Jules Verne's 1870 novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. It was written by Pip and Jane Baker.
> Captain Nemo's submarine Nautilus rescues drowning passengers and takes them to an underwater city, Templemer (pronounced Temple-Meer) where they are told they will remain forever. These survivors include thieving brother...

Don’t know about Extraordinary Gentleman, but Nemo does come into play in Mysterious Island. He comes in near the end, but he’s there. I tried watching some Mysterious Island movie and it sucked because they brought him in way to early.

Another possibility is the TV movie [_The Return of Captain Nemo_](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Return_of_Captain_Nemo), released theatrically as _The Amazing Captain Nemo_. It’s from the 70s, not the 60s, but it’s definitely cheesy.

The whole thing is apparently available on YouTube. I won’t link to it since I’m not sure of the copyright status.

Chuck Connors! Now there’s a perfect gauge for its quality.
