Absolutely. The quote in my post up there from our delicate flower **SunnyDaze** struck me as haughty in the extreme. We are supposed to make sure she’s not wounded by our posts, or if so apologize? Well. Fuck that shit. We have these neat things here on the SDMB called “Moderators” and unless they arrive in a thread to make adjustments, I couldn’t give one fuck if **SunnyDaze** feels I owe her an apology. I abide by the rules as enforced by the Mods, not her. Hence my referencing of the 1st Amendment. Within the construct of the Board Rules, my free speech isn’t limited by her feelings. ---

Good grief. \*\*Sunny \*\*wasn’t trampling on anyone’s First Amendment rights, she was explaining a basic social interaction that she shouldn’t have had to explain: _How To Get Along With People 101_. She’s one of the most reasonable posters on the entire board. ---

You’re talking to a guy who was concerned about how much [nazi propaganda he might be exposed to while on vacation in Germany](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=726360) and thought he had grounds to make a [federal complaint with the FBI because he suspected his downstairs neighbor, in NYC, was smoking pot](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=735657). At first glance he doesn’t really strike me as a free-speech kind of guy, but apparently when it comes to keeping the womenfolk in line he’s a big fan of it. ---

I said there were certain works of literature I couldn’t stand because of the obvious bigotry of the author. I didn’t even make a categorical statement, I just said, ‘‘Sometimes it bothers me, sometimes it doesn’t, depends on the context.’’ He was like, ‘‘Well, we’re writers, it’s no big deal, I can read anything, I can read about an island full of women who hate men, and I’m not offended.’’ I suggested to it him that it’s a tad different if you’re looking into some fresh new perspective on a lark, but in my situation it’s more like I’m bombarded with negative stereotypes of my own gender and live with those social consequences, to some extent, every day of my life, so fuck wasting my time with some writer who clearly doesn’t respect me. But his response was, ‘‘Your philosophy is what led to Fahrenheit 451\*\*.’’ 😕 When I asked him to elaborate, he said it was because people wanted to ban books they found offensive. That’s super, because I never fucking said anything about banning books. I said I didn’t like to read certain books by certain authors because their bigotry bothered me, and somehow that became an appropriate time for him to reference fascism. I love how I am the fascist for not doing something I don’t want to do. I am truly bewildered by this line of thinking. \*\*This is amusing because Ray Bradbury is one of my favorite writers of all time, and also a good example of bugshit insane writers who _don’t_ pollute their novels with bigoted garbage, whatever their weird ass personal ideologies may be. ---

No one and nothing prevents you from using words on this board and IRL to demonstrate your tenuous grasp on the Bill of Rights and anything else you read a summary of once. The post you quoted was an answer to **Rittersport** about apologies. Nothing to do with you, my little snowflake. If **Rittersport** feels wronged, I hope he will let me know. 2. You were not mentioned in my OP. Why do you think I asked you for an apology? In fact, I didn’t ask the posters in my OP for an apology. I just asked them to think before posting. 3. The mods did tell the posters in question in my OP to stop it with the joke in the first thread (to your point about the mods). 4. Of course what you post isn’t limited by my feelings. Who said that it was? You really are an idiot of impressive proportions. Trump should hire you to make him look good. There’s no need to apologize for offending delicate little me with your presence. I suspect you owe everyone else you interact with some sort of ongoing penance, however. ---
