I think. Don’t remember anything else like it.
Stand by me
Adaptation.
Oh, yeah, Porco Rosso. Can’t believe that slipped my mind, it’s my favorite Miyazaki. All of Hayao Miyazaki’s stuff is pretty weird-ass, though.
It’s like Kurosawa and Bergman collaborated on an Outer Limits episode. Or maybe not. Anyway, I liked it.
Leningrad Cowboys Go America
Fight Club
There’s a Shatner movie in Esperanto? And a movie called Bambi Meets Godzilla? I think I need to see those.
“The Wicker Man”
“When the WInd Blows”
Hmm, just saw a TV ad for an upcoming broadcast of Deliverance, and was about to suggest it, but then realized: hey, that was a dumb movie! Maybe making Neal Beatty squeal like a pig was shocking once, but the movie’s impact has been diluted by 30 years of parody.
I love fight club, but haven’t there been a whole bunch of multiple personality (or dissasociative identity disorder, if you prefer) movies? It’s even mentioned as cliche in another one of a kind movie, adaptation.
The Fifth Element? Was that a serious suggestion or a sarcastic one? I hope the latter.
I think Fight Club is about more than just Multiuple Personality Disorder. That is a small part of it. I think parts of Fight Club are very original and funny, like the part with him addicted to the self help groups and arguing with the girl over who gets to go to what group.
Memento is the first one that came to my mind.
I always thought Swingers, in its own way, was very original. I hate admitting it, but its pretty much a romantic comedy from the male perspective. The idea behdind it is pretty old and standard : guy looking for girl. However, it portrays the main character at least in a very real life manner that, ironically, is also very original for a movie. He is neither a stereotypical male pig just after sex and he is not some hunk or great, wonderful nice guy that "just hasn't found the right girl." He is the average guy tyring to rebound from his break up. And the interaction between the men in the movie is very well done also. Again, they are not stereotypical horny teen agers/twentysomethings. You see a real bond within the group of friends and have real moments where they bond together. Its a fresh take on an old scheme.
Grosse Pointe Blank. Very underrated comedy in my opinion. Best in Show too.
Not really a movie but a short. I bet you can find it for free on the internet somewhere.
I guess I’d nominate “A Boy and his Dog.” The one with Don Johnson. I don’t know of any other movie where when the boy gets the girl he eats her. Whoa, there’s a special collector’s edition on DVD coming out soon. That’s surprising.
As soon as I read the thread title, Satyricon popped into my head.
Oh, I could name a few. It rather depends on your definition of “eat” though . . .
The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg - A very sad Sixties French drama about an unwed mother, except that all the dialogue is sung rather than spoken.

It is so short, the opening credits run into the closing credits.
The 70’s were good.
Oh, just for the record…
The Brave Little Toaster
American Ninja 3!!
