Bad idea.
Making impromptu cops out of firemen makes it that much more likely that people who think that something they have might get them in trouble will opt to just let the thing burn.
I agree, but don’t play pool with the crows for money. They cheat, and if you complain, they’ll hit you with a…
pitcher of beer.
So, after working on it for about half an hour, I give up. The next day, my wife and daughter try to lift the trunk while pressing the trunk release button. It works. I tried the same thing myself to no avail.
The loop thingy’s are in the back of the trunk, near the lock. Never would have guessed.
The car is at the adjuster right now. We will see what they have to say. I tied the trunk closed, but alot of the rear is messed up, including a bar behind the bumper that may or may not be part of the frame. If it is, I think it is totalled. Will inform you when I talk to my wife.
I realize this is an ancient thread but maybe this info could help somebody else searching for a solution.
The neighbor girls locked the keys in the trunk of their '03 Cavalier & of course the trunk release button wasn’t working. I tried all the obvious stuff to no avail. Then I “googled it” & found this thread which gave me an idea. If the back seat back latch was near the top of the seat, maybe a screwdriver could move it. This is exactly the case & I got it open in about 3 minutes!
Take a medium length slot screwdriver (or any other flat, rigid object) & poke it down behind the center of the seat back. To help you locate the latch, pull the seat back to hear the latch click. The screwdriver will hit the metal latch which is comprised of a vertical pin in the seat back & a horizontally pivoting latch hook. As you’re kneeling in the back seat facing aft, the hook moves to unlatch to the left. “Feel” the top of the hook, then move the tip of the screwdriver to the right until you feel it fall off the hook. Push screwdriver down slightly (now you’re on the right side of the hook) & try to move the hook to the left to unlatch. Voila! Hope this helps.
