So you said that the engine ran a couple of years ago, that combined with this statement forms a part of your possible answer. Go with the above suggestions and hand crank it a couple of turns to make sure it’s still loose, clean the carb, change the fluids out (gas lines is a wise decision and often overlooked item for beginning car enthusiasts) put in a fresh battery, maybe take a look at the belt(s) while you have it out, clean air filter, yanno, the typical annual tune up stuff, put her all back together and drive that baby!
