The 70’s version of The Match Game is one of my favorite game shows of all time. Hosted by the uber creepy Gene Rayburn and made up of panel after panel of “C-list” celebrities it’s still entertaining now, 30 some years into re runs. I was thinking last night that we live in the epoch of low rung celebrities, so which ones would be good to cast if there was to be a remake, once again, of this show? ---

I too love this show- Gene’s microphone still makes me laugh every time I see it. Match Game has it all- flaming queens (CNR, Richard Deacon), bitter bitchy fag hags (Brett), horndogs (Richard Dawson), hot chicks (Elaine Joyce, et. al), dirty questions, smoking and drinking _on stage_- best game show ever! ---

Good call on Lisa Lampinelli, how she has built a comedy career over “I like black dick” is surprising, only surpassed by Ralphie May’s “I’m fat and talk like I’m a rapper”. ---

First you need Amy Sedaris in the Fannie Flagg/Patti Deutsch seat. I can see Michael Musto or RuPaul in the Charles Nelson Reilly seat. Would love to see Deborah Harry in the Brett Sommers seat. And you need someone who does good impressions - perhaps Norm MacDonald. Too many options for the bimbo seat… To replace Richard Dawson you need a macho+foreign+witty combo… hmm… that’s a tough call. ---
