What really annoys me is the intolerance for the very things that make a community a _community_. A shared background, language, slang, approach to Life, etc. Given their druthers, there are some around here that would make this place a sterile, soul-less wasteland of facts. Piss on that! I rejoyce in all that is over-done on the Dope. Every catch-phrase, every recycled joke, every standard response. They are what makes this place what it is: The Best Board On Earth. And I think the correct answer is _Rio_ by Duran Duran. ---

I’m talking anyway.) some people aren’t happy unless they are bitching about something. Unfortunately the mods have given in to the whiners on a lot of issues. Remember when the sole rule was “don’t be a jerk?” Do we really need 25 stickies, not to mention the unwritten rules? Not to say that there aren’t problem which need to be bitched about though. ---

I hate when Dopers with long and memorable usernames change them to something short, like a proper name. If **Left Hand of Dorkness** changes his username to **Dan** , I’m outta here. ---

Every day, when I’m trying to navigate the boards, this will happen at least once, sometimes several times: _clicks on forum_ _Computer thinks_ _thinks_ _thinks_ _thinks_ _thinks_ _Pop-up window: “The operation timed out while attempting to contact [http://boards.straightdope.com](http://boards.straightdope.com).”_ Rrrrrrgh! Another pet peeve: responding multiple times to the same post. If someone does it rarely, that’s one thing, not so bad. But when the same person does it more than once in a single thread, it suggests to me that they’re not thinking very carefully about what they post. Measure twice, post once. This " emoting " of things I see here so much, like _makes popcorn and pulls up lawnchair_ or _runs outside to play in snow_ or _crawls under blankets and masturbates furiously onto a crucifix whilst screaming obscenities_. And there’s some people who do it in every fucking post. Jesus it’s lame. ---

My biggest complaint always has, and likely will continue to be, people that respond to any complaint, and pit thread, with the behavior being complained about and think it’s funny. **Egad** , thank you for setting up the example with your perfectly valid complaint just a few replies above. And **Malacandra** , thanks for providing a prime example of the unfunny lame ass douchebag responses I’m referring to.
