I did in fact read this whole thread, but I failed to see this mentioned: Anyone who says “Google is your friend”. No, a friend is someone I play golf with, or go see a movie with. Google is a fucking search engine. Ok, lame post, but it still irks me like no other. Oh, actually one more… Firefox over IE advocates. People who spout this as the best thing since sliced bread. Little do they know since it’s been gaining popularity, it also has been gaining security vulnerabilities. So much for security by obscurity. People, if you are going to advocate something, please at least be informed about the topic you advocating. Parrotting something you heard somewhere should not be used as evidence to make your arguement. ---

Ok, I’ve got one that’s actually genuinely been annoying me. It happens when someone starts talking about anything, anything in pop culture, and the first 20 posters in all name something from the past five years. For example: What’s the best \_\_\_\_\_? _Answers:_ Buffy Buffy Firefly Serenity! Like that. Pop culture existed before the last five years, people! Maybe I’m just getting old. ---

Sorry – misread your acknowlegement as “this is how everyone uses the word, but if it’s going to get **LHOD** ’s knickers in a twist, I won’t use it that way when he’s around.” Which is where you started with it. Here are two things that really annoy me that are prevalent on many message boards, but I’ve definitely seen them on the SDMB as well: 1. In some completely mundane thread, **Person A** will state their opinion. Then, **Person B** , someone with notoriously opposite political views, will make a post like, "I never thought I’d say this in a million years…but I am fully in agreement with **Person A**. :eek: :eek: :eek: " Oh my fucking God. A diehard conservative and a bleeding-heart liberal both agree that caramelized onions are a quite succulent pizza topping. SOMEBODY GET THESE PEOPLE A FUCKING NOBEL PEACE PRIZE. 2. “I can’t believe nobody’s mentioned \_\_\_\_\_ yet…” in any thread asking for opinions of the best whatever. First of all, almost **always** somebody already mentioned your precious little answer seven pages ago, but you were too busy racing to be the first to assert the essentialness of some obscure indie Japanese gangster rap musical from the mid-80s to read the damn thread. Second of all, even if nobody mentioned the damn thing…who gives a shit? Just give your opinion and don’t subject the rest of us to what Philistines you think we all for not properly tonguelapping your precioussssss. ---
