This happened to me three times today. 502 and 504 errors. ---

About 15 or 16 years ago, the Boards were just as bad. At the time, the problem was (I think) the need for a server upgrade. The second problem was how to pay for it since the SDMB had (?still has) a budget of about zero dollars. Many people offered to donate but TPTB turned them down. I am posting this to say that I am still very willing to ante up some bucks if that’s what it takes to solve the Board’s technical problems. I expect that I am not alone in this. Seriously, and with no snark, I ask - can we take up a collection? ---

I’m thinking that is quite possible that having a username, a last name, and/or an email addy that starts with a letter at the beginning of the alphabet was a big benefit in making it through the crashed dbase table problem. ---

Yeah, I think so, too. I was having the usual problems with slow loading and timeouts earlier today but it got better a few hours ago. Apparently the board totally crashed for many (most?) users at around that time. ---
