Recently discovered cilantro..

If you taste it in Mexican TV dinners, there’s a good chance it’s probably cumin, which is one of the main Tex-Mex spices. Or possibly Mexican oregano.

I am one of the cilantro-averse. Can’t help it. To me it tastes worse than soap. It tastes (gross description follows)

the way your mouth tastes after you throw up.

I like cilantro with slices of apple in a sandwich.

I don’t like eating the stems, just the leaf.

That’s got nothing to do with it. It’s not that some people taste actual soap that’s on cilantro, but a chemical compound in cilantro that other people don’t. And I suspect that some people do taste that compound but like it, while others find it overwhelming.

Cilantro is an abomination that should be scoured from the earth!:stuck_out_tongue:

I tried a small cafe with a good reputation, and they had the nummiest looking guacamole. Tasted it and couldn’t eat any more, as it had cilantro in it.

I don’t understand it, I’ve tried and added it to many dishes, it just doesn’t do anything at all one way or another for me.

And the best thing is: If you run out you can just drizzle some liquid soap on lettuce as a substitute!
